Everybody here is outta sight they don't bark and they don't bite they keep things loose, they keep things light everybody was dancing in the moonlight
It was Nanette's favorite place in the world: the little club known as Dancing In The Moonlight. As she stood on the roof, on one chilly March night, she realized just how pretty a little town like Waylon City could be. It wasn't nature-y beautiful, but it was hometown beautiful. With the cars parked in the streets, the old brick buildings, the fountain in the center of town, and the dark, velvety blue sky, all made Waylon City a beautiful place. The sky was a canvas painted thickly with a dark, rich blue, and dotted with sparkling stars, and a big, bright full moon. The was a gentle breeze in the air, that would have probably gone unnoticed if Nanette had been wearing a jacket. Instead, she chose to come up on the roof, only wearing a dark gray, lacy camisole and long, dark book leg jeans. She had a small black purse draped over one arm, which held her cell phone, a mini-pack of tissues, lip gloss, her wallet, and a few random scraps of paper. Her curly, ash blonde hair was in a high ponytail, as always. She wore small, peridot earrings, which occasionally caught a glint of moonlight and sparkled.
Nanette wasn't the center of attention- therefore, she was extremely happy. Nanette didn't like being stared at, or even approached by strangers. She only came to Dancing In The Moonlight to hang out, have a drink or two, and see if any of her friends were out as well. Occasionally, she would talk to someone and become friends, but most of the time, Nanette would just say something incredibly rude, and walk away. Sure, it hadn't always gone well- she had been sworn at, even slapped once, for being so rude, but she didn't really care. As long as they weren't going to be the person who would let her into college or not, they were almost nobody. Thinking of college, Nanette flinched. She knew she should be studying, but, honestly- it was Friday night, and Easter break. School could wait, for tonight at least. Nanette closed her eyes, and decided that maybe, she would become one of the crowd for once. She would talk to someone, and not just be rude- well, as long as she thought the person speaking was deserving of nice treatment. Perhaps she would just be a good, friendly person tonight, and forget about her mean self. After all, tonight could be the start of a whole new world- she could never really know. One thing being a feli had taught her was that you never really know what is going to happen next.

Her eyes were like daggers as they pierced through the woman opposite her, on the roof. Mari herself had been quietly squatting on a light post, waiting for her next victim to pounce on. She had just found a most interesting toy, a small dagger, and she was just waiting for a poor sap to get into her line of fire so she could swoop down from her perch and stab the living daylights out of them.
However, this girl, on the roof, had caught her attention. At first she had panicked a bit, thinking that it was a hunter trying to look for her, but after inhaling, she could tell from the scent that it was just another feli. They were growing more common, and at least it wasn't a cani. She could easily stick around a feli with ease...only those that were like her...how sad, how...cowardly...
Mari spat on the ground far below her, her lips curling up in disgust. What a coward she was becoming...she needed to train harder, get more powerful...hm, yes...that would work perfectly. The stronger she got, she wouldn't be afraid of anything! She suddenly grinned, a gloved hand reaching up to run it through her brown hair. Her green orbs were locked on the feli before her. Was she planning an attack? No, not at all, she was planning on the biggest damn jump of her life.
Her orbs narrowed as she crouched further on the skinny pole. She had pretty good balance, even for a feli, which allowed her to stay positioned on the pole quite easily. She gathered her power to her legs, and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself. It'd be a helluva fall if she didn't make it....

Someone's dancing body bumped into Nanette, causing her to spin around. As she turned, something, someone, caught her eye. On a pole, there was someone...Nanette guessed from their size, they had to be about her age, maybe a little bit older or younger. She focused on the being's face, trying to see who it was. Her eye adjusted in the darkness, as a cat's eyes do, and studied the girl's face. She looked slightly feline, and when Nanette opened her mouth slightly, she could smell feli above the other scents of the crowd surrounding her. She watched carefully, studying the other feli. She has good balance. I hope she doesn't random jump down and kill me.
Nanette decided to turn away, feeling pretty sure the other feli didn't want to talk. Honestly- if you wanted to find friends, why climb a pole? She let the crowd on the dance floor absorb her, and began to dance as well. She wasn't an amazing dancer, just able to do the simple things. She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment for once. She wasn't paying attention to who was around her, or really what she was doing. She let herself get lost in the music, lost in the moment. With the loud music and great beat so loud, and the dance floor under her feet, everything felt right. Nanette let her mind drift away, not even thinking about the past or the future, and not much about the present. The other feli had almost disappeared from her mind, yet occasionally Nanette would feel the urge to glance over her shoulder and look for the feli. However, she decided to ignore the urge, thinking it was only her being paranoid.

That girl, the one who had caught her eye...quite a curious being, wasn't she? Mari smirked. Hm, just like a cat, she kept wanting to glance over to where she was, what she was doing, was she still there...she could laugh, right about now, but she decided not to. It was better that she was only seen by one person...ugh, let alone all of these beings. Some cani, some feli, some human...no hunters, that was a plus at least. Her gloved hands gripped the pole tighter, trying to keep her balance.
Her eyes narrowed through her sunglasses. In the middle of the night, it must look odd to those dancers, but hell, what did they know? Maybe the moon's rays were deadly! She could be taking precaution before everyone else! She almost did laugh at that, but her hand moved up to her mouth to stop herself. No, no, she needed to be quiet...
Suddenly, in a lightningfast move, she jumped from the pole on the opposite end of the street and landed on the roof, her eyes burning holes through her glasses as she looked around. A dance, yes, she was right. Hm, this would be most interesting, wouldn't it? She smirked and let her hands rest on her hips.
She was perfectly content with watching...

A sudden burst of movement caught Nanette's eye, something that might not have been noticed by a human, but with her adrenaline-charged and feli-enhanced senses, she noticed almost everything. Her grayish blue eyes swiveled up to the pole were the feli had been, and noticed it was empty. She figured that the feli had jumped down, and scanned the roof for her. The smell of other feli and cani hit her, and the plain stench of humans. She scanned the roof slowly, and, once again, she managed to find the feli. She caught a brief glimpse of the other feli, and began to move toward her, through the sea of dancing bodies and drunk idiots. She had met tons of other feli before, and it had always been different each time. Some were nice, some were distant, and some were ready to claw her eyes out. Nanette felt a bit of curiosity as she approached the other feli. She may not have been the most sociable person on Earth, but Nanette did like talking to those of her own kind.
She pushed through the crowd, her eyes fixed on the spot were she had glimpsed the other feli. When the crowd parted again, she was sure she had seen the feli. Waving a thin arm above her head, Nanette smiled a big, half-fake smile.
"Hey!" she called out, trying her best to sound friendly. She walked faster, toward the feli, waving.

The smile, as Mari could easily tell, was fake. It was huge and glittering, making her wince inwardly. How sick. If someone doesn't like them from the start, why put on a show like that? It really was disgusting...her lip curled slightly despite herself, and she quietly rose a bright red gloved hand to cover her betraying mouth. Her green eyes glinted slightly as she watched the other feli push and shove her way through the sweaty crowd of drunks, and a brown eyebrow was raised delicately.
"Yes?" was all she said in response. Her eyes narrowed a bit. She never really was good at trusting people, especially those like this girl, this feli. Even felis, people of her own kind, she couln't even trust them...feh. Who needs trust when you have super speed, agility, and a damn effective gun at your hand?
Mari blinked softly and sneered at the woman. Blonde hair...skinny, pretty eyes. At least she didn't look too terribly hostile...Her gloved mit reached for her newfound toy, a dagger she kept hidden in her boot most of the time, just in case. Her eyes were trained on the girl as she tilted her head upwards slightly.
"How do you do this so easily? How do you know there aren't any hunters around?" she mumbled, almost a hiss.

"If I don't see any hunters, I just assume that I'm safe at the moment, and if one does sneak up on me, I shred them." Nanette said flatly, adding an eye roll for good measure. So much for being nice. Really- she didn't like the tone of the feli, or even the strangest bit of suspicion Nanette felt by her. It was so...weird. However, Nanette told herself it was nothing, she was imagining things, and that she needed to focus.
"So, are you going to introduce yourself, or are you just going to stand around and look like a little kid pretending to be a spy? Honestly- telephone poles?" Nanette said, in her coldest voice possible. If the other feli wasn't going to be friendly, Nanette didn't have to be either. She could probably do whatever she wanted, as long as she didn't get some hunter's attention somewhere. Although Nanette didn't exactly want to get into a fight- the other feli looked stronger, more dangerous than her. Nanette could probably fight her for a bit, but Nanette was pretty sure she couldn't win the fight. Even though she was a feli, Nanette had never been superstrong- just normal-feli-strong. Nothing to be proud of, exactly.
""I'm Nanette, by the way. However, almost everyone calls me Nana," she explained, crossing her arms over her chest, studying the other feli's face, waiting to see if the feli would introduce herself, or start bashing in Nanette's face. Nanette really didn't like the feeling of suspicion she felt when she was around the other feli...but it was nothing, right? It wasn't like the pure terror Nanette had felt when she had seen her first hunter...in fact, Nanette had been intimidated and suspicious of other feli before...why would this be any different? There is absolutely nothing going on. I am imagining things.

Mari's eyes narrowed behind her sunglasses, the sharp tone of the feli suddenly making her smirk underneath her hand. A spy? How flattering...that would be a wonderful job, that she already basically does. "Hm, I haven't seen you standing on any poles recently," she purred, smirking to herself. It was hard...sheesh...
Her head tilted to the side. Well, she had spunk, at least. Not like some of these milk toasts around these parts...giving in to whatever a human or a hunter said. It was so disgusting...almost as if they were meant to be domesticated or something. The thought of that made Mari's stomach churn a bit.
"It's Mari, if you must know," she said. Normally she wouldnt've even given out her name, but it was a feli, and with a head on her shoulders, which meant Mari could easily show at least some sort of compassion to the girl. Her red hand traveled away from the dagger concealed in her boot, figuring that there was no danger with this girl and she wouldn't need to pull it out.
